Heart Rhythm Monitoring & Pacemaker Follow Up

Holter Monitors

A 24-hour Holter monitor is a device that records the electrical activity of the heart including rate and rhythm over a 24-hour period. It consists of a battery-operated, portable device about the size of your palm which is connected by wires to electrodes placed on your chest. The test is used to evaluate abnormal heart rhythms which can cause palpitations or dizziness.

Long Term Monitors

While a holter monitor provides accurate evaluation of abnormal heart rhythms over 24 hours, often times longer term monitoring will be required to identify abnormal heart rhythms. We utilize several methods of monitoring your heart rate over longer periods of time. Some of these monitors are non-invasive and some require a minor procedure to implant.

Pacemaker Checks

Pacemakers and implantable defibrillators (ICDs) are used to protect your heart from slow or dangerous heart rhythms. We provide full services for those who require pacemakers or implantable defibrillators. Our physicians will evaluate if you will need a pacemaker, and work closely with our colleagues from Englewood and Hackensack hospital who implant these devices. Afterwards we can provide monitoring of your pacemaker/defibrillator and can make necessary changes.
